Experimenting with coloring style on my friend’s dragon Martagon. I just can’t get enough of coatls there is never too much coatl.
A pretty little ACEO painting I did the other day. The original is for sale here!

I went to a nearby coffee shop to just sketch without the distraction of home stuff and it was good! I’ll do it again some time I’m sure. I started with tern studies and then did an initial doodle for the next part of that painting series I want to do, which started retroactively with the Sparrowking illustration I posted the other day. It’s going to be a series in the same style, different colors and individuals, but all with nature elements like birds and plants and maybe bugs, and exploring portraying different shades of gender spectrums in bodies and presentations.
Oh, and the flowers were just from imagination, trying to doodle the sorts of shapes I wanted to work with, so I can ask someone I know with flower knowledge what they resemble so I know what to use for ref.
And just a landscape master study focusing on colors. This week for my online class is photo studies, so I’ll probably do a bunch of canyons and rocks and maybe clothing folds in prep for the next illustration I want to next week, which is the one with Riark holding the snake.
Messy Imperial sketch, ‘cause oh man swirly tangled long dragon bodies are too much fun.

Another plein air painting- this one didn’t go as smoothly and took me two two-hour sittings instead of just one like the first. I’m not as happy with it, but it was a learning experience for blocking in trees… or the start of learning through what doesn’t work, any way. The lighting conditions kept changing, too, which is a sure way to have things thrown off.
Playing with color, wings, and gender- I really wanted to do an illustration portraying a genderfluid or otherwise non-binary person and to have it read that way, too.
And, well… I couldn’t help working in a dash of punk attitude.
This piece is available as a print!
Hey folks, sorry it took me so long to get the special for this month up! I got busy with the whole… quitting my job and moving thing, whoops. As such, I decided to keep things simple and just do sketch portraits. So if you wanted some cheap art from me, now’s your chance!
I’ve moved my commission headquarters to a Trello format to keep things organized in one place! You can find my main commission page here, and the link for this monthly special is here.
Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested— Thank you!
sleepersharks' Elegia! Yo friend I owe you somethin a little nicer but life is chaos right now. So here's something to hold you over! I've always wanted an excuse to draw this character, anywho.

I got Manga Studio on sale and it arrived yesterday, so I wanted to get a bunch done just sketching around in there- but augh I was exhausted after work, and figuring brush stuff out took a while, sooo not so much on the amount today. At least I scratched together enough to introduce Ter.
I wrote a gorram WALL of text on Ter’s… unique situation, so hop over here if you wanna read that!

Just some scribbles today; I wanted to just kinda take it easy and draw whatever last night. An easier moment before I gotta get my class work and other commitments done the rest of the week. But hey you get to meet Liran! OH BOY
My description for this entry was pretty long so I’m just gonna have you check it out at the link to avoid feeling spammy, hah. Thanks!

Another bunch of sketches this evening! This batch is due early tomorrow so I’m trying to get as much done as I can tonight. Tomorrow I might return to just mindless doodling for a bit.
Image 1 - I was working on this one last night before bed but I didn’t like it at all so I decided to let it be and move on to the next thing. Sometimes just gotta know something isn’t going to work. I love the idea of doing something with Ter cutting his hair off as a new beginning, but have yet to find a way to make it work.
Image 2 - This one, however, I like MUCH more! It’s riffing off another old sketch of Ter. I’m not super happy with the background- like I guess the BG doesnt need to be much, tho.
Image 3 - This image is also an attempt at trying something different with an older sketch. Problem is I’m not sure which I like better, now. I could make some adjustments to the old one or resolve stuff with this one, but I’m not sure which is better? Thoughts? The palette for this one is a total placeholder; I’d probably pull colors from the old sketch.
Image 4 - I have no idea what this one is, just sketching to see if it leads to other ideas. In this case not so much, so I’ll just leave it at this and try something else now. I need to do like 3 or 4 more sketches tonight so we’ll see what happens!

Doing a couple of colored ‘sketches’, trying to firm up the basis for potential future illustrations. I’m taking an online art class at the same time as I’m doing Artslam, so I’m combining AS stuff and the assignments there; 10 illustration sketches of this nature are due in by Weds morning so I’m just trying to throw these together for that.
First up is Riark, uh… with a snake! Looking ominous! I have kind of put Riark through a lot of shit since last slam, whoops. My writing this November was not kind. So this is more of a symbolic illustration than an actual narrative scene…. Sort of inspired by a song that makes me think of Riark (and features on my mix for her), as well. Snakes have some symbolic connotations to her people, as well as being representative of a special group she has trained to join, though things are not going to plan so far.
Conversely, the second painting would just be a ‘I want to draw pretty shit’ thing, probably traditional? I feel like it needs something more (or just a lot of hue play in the skin) but I haven’t decided what yet.
Critique is totally welcome on these (as well as anything I post)! And thanks to everyone for the feedback on my last post, I’m going to play around with Jekoon and Thearen’s facial features later in the week and see if I can’t diversify them a bit further.
Oh shoot I forgot how much I enjoy drawing Damien. Like, A LOT, you guys.
Can’t wait to draw his mug all December!
