I’m curious how many artists use their characters as visual proxy partially because they are uncomfortable visually representing themselves, for any number of reasons? (Or just fall into the later if not pursuing the former?)
I know I fall in the category of for some reason feeling like it’s really weird to draw myself as a means to express things, though I can’t figure out why. And not to imply it is weird or anything; I just don’t feel comfortable doing it myself! Though I also see a lot of comic artists who do so a lot. So I’m just curious what other folk think of this and whether they experience such.
Work in progress post before I wind down for the night ‘cause I’m too tired to keep going for now, bleh. Stillll trying to get my sleep caught up but it’s pretty challenging to do without sacrificing other parts of my schedule. So to regain any ground I have to go to bed at like, friggen nine in the evening.
Anyway, fan art in progress for supaslim cause she’s rockin’ and has been helping me out a bunch lately!
Yes, time at last- The follower appreciation giveaway! I’ve been meaning to do this for a while- but I’m starting to realize there is much more in my ‘old art’ hoard than I remembered… So I guess we’ll be breaking this up into several small giveaways, starting with the oldest artwork first to get that out of the way. Some of this is from my first Artslam, actually- ‘daww. Look how far we’ve come!
The top four are original watercolor paintings, ranging from 5” x 7” to 2.5” x 3.5”, and I’m also including 8 prints of another watercolor painting. Those who win the originals will also get a copy of the print as a bonus - that makes for 12 possible winners!
Rules are as follows:
If you win but fail to communicate within three weeks, the item will go back into a future giveaway. If you have a preference for a particular item, make it known in your reblog tags, and I’ll do my best- but I cannot make promises you’ll get your favorite!
Thanks a bunch, folks! I’m really glad to be able to return the support folks have given over the last few years, and I’m looking forward to producing plenty more work soon!
Hey folks! I’ve decided to start offering monthly commission specials- I think it’ll be a fun way to both offer some discounted prices, while also allowing me to experiment and cater to varying art whims. We all win, woo!
Anyway! I’m in a sketch colorful traditional mood, so that’s culminated into the first month’s offerings! (Yes, it is late into April— whoops. I will keep this one going until I post the next one in May if slots happen to remain open that long.)
Busts are $25 each, and I am willing to send the originals if you let me know you’re interested in such before I start sketching! Shipping prices apply for that option- $3 in the US, per-estimate international.
(Click through here to see the slot status on the original post!)
Thanks folks! I will finally be posting an originals giveaway tomorrow evening so check back for that as well! (And, as always- if you can’t partake right now, reblogs are eternally appreciated!)
Pfffft spending like an hour on the under drawing and then remembering ‘oh right clothing’ is a classic
A couple sketches from last night while waiting a resturaunt. Drawing at a table is an inevitable route to fascination by wait staff.
Still getting used to some new pens!
One-third of my collab with Cooley of the Legendary Dogs. Raikou here, of course- Cooley did the awesome lineart/stylization and I did the coloring.
You should go check out their art, too! Do it now!
Colored lineart commission for Rory over on Weasyl, of their otter character Mar cosplaying.
I filled the sale slots I had been advertising last week, thank you to everyone who helped promote me! I’m hoping to cook up a little giveaway (of physical art!) in a couple weeks here as a follower appreciation treat, so stay tuned!
FR Commission for Devimelete of their dragon based on The Yellow King!
FR Commission for Skiatha of their Pearlcatcher Thranduil.
I obviously had some fun with this one!
It’s that time agaiin! Doing a FR colored sketch commission, and taking stream commissions for those interested.
(By the way, public poll: Would people prefer livestream isntead of ustream as a service to observe? I’ve used ustream because livestream’s ads seem annoying, but I’m open to feedback!)
Sketch commission four of four for Blackwolf Silverpaw from last year! These were fun to do.
Also, friendly reminder that I still have two sale slots for my recently re-opened commissions! After that my prices will be raising to something more reasonable, so get em on the cheap while you can!
The second of four commissioned drawings for Blackwolf of her characters from last fall. This is Guang Karpo, a travelling monk.
So, turns out I forgot to ever post these from last fall! This is a sketch commission for Blackwolf Silverpaw of her character (Blackwolf) meditating. This is the first in a small series of related characters, part of her story about the journeys of a Tibetan monk.
Speaking of commissions, I am finally open again! AT LONG LAST! You can find the info on that here.
Sleepersharks' Imbrus as a thanks for shiny digital dragon pixels on Flight Rising.
I don’t know much about the personal background of the character, but they look so comfortably floaty that literal floaty-ness seemed like the apt thing for my non-sequitor wired brain to go with. I hope it is appropriate for them!
